News Topical, Digital Desk : A suicide bomber struck a Shia mosque in Pakistan's capital, Islamabad, during Friday prayers. The attack has so far killed 69 people and injured more than 169.
Immediately after the blast, Pakistan's Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said the attacker had a history of traveling to Afghanistan and, without providing any evidence, accused India of sponsoring the attack. India has dismissed this allegation as baseless and without facts.
What did Pakistan's Defense Minister say?
In fact, Pakistan's Defence Minister Khawaja Mohammad Asif had claimed that the attacker had links to Afghanistan and alleged an emerging alliance between India and the Afghan Taliban.
In a post on X, Asif said the attacker was moving between Afghanistan and Pakistan and accused India of launching a proxy campaign after a humiliating defeat, adding that New Delhi no longer had the courage to engage in direct confrontation.
India condemned the attack
The Indian Foreign Ministry condemned Pakistan's accusation and expressed condolences for the innocent people killed in the attack. The Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement saying, "The bomb blast at a mosque in Islamabad this morning is condemnable, and India expresses its deepest condolences for the loss of life and property.
Sadly, Pakistan is deluding itself by blaming others for its domestic problems, instead of seriously addressing the issues that are fraying its social fabric. India rejects any such accusations. "
Kabul also rejected
Meanwhile, Afghanistan's Taliban-led government condemned the Islamabad attack through a statement by the Ministry of National Defence spokesman and accused Pakistani authorities of making irresponsible and habitual accusations without evidence.
The statement said that Pakistan has repeatedly blamed Afghanistan for attacks in Balochistan and other areas "without conducting the necessary investigations and without any due diligence or verification." Such claims are devoid of any logic or basis and are intended to divert attention from Pakistan's own security shortcomings.
