News Topical, Digital Desk : Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In the letter, the Shiv Sena UBT chief has demanded assistance of ₹50,000 per hectare and complete loan waiver for flood-affected farmers. He wrote that if flood-affected farmers are not helped now, three generations of Marathwada farmers will be ruined.
In fact, the state's farmers have been devastated by the floods, and their Kharif crops have been destroyed. In this situation, the state government has announced a package of ₹2,500 crore, but the opposition says this is insufficient. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is embarking on a two-day visit to Maharashtra, leaving the flood-affected farmers of Marathwada looking to him with hope. Therefore, the Prime Minister is expected to announce compensation of ₹50,000 per hectare and complete loan waiver for farmers.
PM Modi will visit Mumbai on October 8-9
Prime Minister Modi will be visiting Mumbai on October 8th and 9th. He will inaugurate several development projects in Mumbai, but the people of Maharashtra are keenly watching the Prime Minister's special economic package for the flood-affected people of Marathwada. Uddhav Thackeray said that the Prime Minister's visit should prove beneficial for the flood-affected farmers.
'Three generations of farmers will be wiped out'
In a letter to the Prime Minister, Uddhav Thackeray wrote, "The entire Marathwada is still submerged in mud and water. Crops, houses, livestock have all been washed away. Even the land has been completely washed away, making it unsuitable for farming for at least two generations. 4 million farmers and 6 million acres of land have been affected by the floods. The Prime Minister should not just make a show of a 'package', but should announce direct assistance of Rs 50,000 per hectare and loan waiver for debt-ridden farmers."
Don't make empty declarations
He further wrote, "If the flood-affected farmers are not helped now, three generations of farmers of Marathwada will be ruined. Therefore, on behalf of the flood-affected farmers, I humbly request the Prime Minister not to make hollow announcements, but to give the farmers what they really need."
