
News Topical, Digital Desk : Amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following last month's military clash, top military officials of the two countries shared their views during the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore. India's Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan said Operation Sindoor is a lesson for our adversaries.
The ongoing tension between the two neighbours drew attention at the meeting of the top global defence forum on Sunday, Channel News Asia reported. India blamed Pakistan-based terror groups for the deadly attack on tourists in Pahalgam while Pakistan denied any involvement.
India will not tolerate terrorism: CDS
As India and Pakistan are geographically next to each other, some of the top generals of the two countries sat in neighbouring conference rooms during the Shangri-La Dialogue on Saturday afternoon and participated in simultaneous sessions on topics ranging from defence innovation solutions to regional crisis-management mechanisms. Referring to Operation Sindoor, Gen Chauhan said India has drawn a new Laxman Rekha by not tolerating terrorism.
‘Lesson for opponents of Operation Sindoor’
He said that I hope this operation is also a lesson for our opponents. Hopefully they will learn that this is the limit of India's tolerance. General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee of the Pakistan Armed Forces, warned what could happen if conflict breaks out again.
He said that if the next time such a conflict occurs, cities are targeted first and borders become irrelevant, the situation could deteriorate to dangerous levels. There is a possibility that due to the limited time frame, the damage and destruction may have already been done before the international community can intervene.
CDS met military officials from Germany and Singapore
According to ANI, CDS Anil Chauhan held a meeting with top military officials of Germany and Singapore on Sunday. During the bilateral talks with German Chief of Defense General Karsten Breuer, talks were held on strengthening defense relations between the two countries and increasing military cooperation.
General Chauhan also held bilateral talks with Singapore's Chief of Defence Force Vice Admiral Aaron Beng, strengthening defence ties between the two countries. During this, the focus was on enhancing military cooperation and operational capabilities.
