Following the release of the final list, the Election Commission informed the Supreme Court of the matter. The Commission stated that several names have been added to the final voter list.

The Election Commission stated that the names added to the final list include both new voters and some existing voters. The Commission also questioned the allegations made by political parties regarding the SIR. The Election Commission told the Supreme Court that no affected or deleted voters have yet approached the court.

Court seeks voter information

The Commission said that only politicians and NGOs based in Delhi are raising the issue. A bench of Justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi said the Commission will submit the details of excluded voters by Thursday, and that the petitions challenging the SIR process will be heard on the same day.

The bench said that the number of voters in the final list appears to have increased compared to the draft roll. Therefore, to avoid any confusion, the identities of the additional voters should be disclosed. The apex court has now listed the matter for hearing on Thursday.

It should be noted that before the September 30th SIR, the total number of voters in Bihar was 78.9 million, but the final voter list reduced it to 74.2 million. The Election Commission announced the election schedule for Bihar on October 6th. Voting for Bihar's 243 seats will take place on November 6th and 11th, while the votes will be counted on November 14th.
