News Topical, Digital Desk : The stock market witnessed significant activity on Thursday in several mid-cap and small-cap stocks. Ramky Infrastructure's decline appeared to have stopped, reaching close to Rs 500. Another stock, however, was locked in a 20% upper circuit due to intense buying. A third stock also saw a sharp rise. Significantly, trading volumes increased manifold in all three stocks, clearly demonstrating investor interest.
Ramky Infrastructure shares have been under pressure for some time, but now the decline appears to be slowing. The company's shares are currently trading around ₹500. Interestingly, the stock's all-time high is ₹1,009.05, meaning the current level is well below that record. The stock has lost nearly 20% in the past three months, while it is up nearly 10% in a year. Today's trading saw unusual volume. The total traded volume was 117.55 times its two-week average. The promoters' stake in the company is approximately 69.81%, which is considered strong in the market.
Elgi Rubber: Due to buying pressure, Elgi Rubber Company's shares saw a sharp rise today. On March 4th, the stock closed at ₹38.25. However, as soon as the market opened on the morning of March 5th, it opened at ₹43.40. Following this, buying continued, and the stock surged 20%, locking in the upper circuit at ₹45.90. The primary reason for this surge was that there were fewer sellers and more buyers in the market. This pushed the stock straight into the upper circuit. Trading volume was also significantly higher. The company's total traded volume exceeded its two-week average by 36.56 times.
Ruby Mills: The stock continues its rally. The Ruby Mills stock also saw a significant rally on Thursday. The stock opened at ₹230.02, compared to its previous close of ₹203.88, and during trading reached ₹244.65, a gain of nearly 10% during the day. Trading activity in this stock also remained strong. The total traded volume of the company's stock was 19.26 times its two-week average.
Why are investors watching? When volume in a stock suddenly increases several times, it indicates that market interest in that stock is growing. However, growth in volume alone shouldn't be the basis for investing. Investors should consider the company's fundamentals, business model, and long-term prospects before making their decisions.
