News Topical, Digital Desk : Siddhivinayak Temple News: A big decision has been taken by the administration of the famous Siddhivinayak temple in Mumbai. From this Sunday (May 11), garlands, flowers and coconuts will be banned in the Siddhivinayak temple.

The administration has taken this decision keeping in view the security. From Sunday onwards, devotees will not be able to offer garlands and coconuts to Ganpati Bappa. Let us tell you that Siddhivinayak temple is very famous not only in the country but all over the world.

In June 2007, Mumbai's Siddhivinayak Temple implemented a ban on offering coconuts and large garlands due to security concerns. This decision was based on intelligence reports suggesting that such items could be used to conceal explosives, posing a potential threat to the temple, which was already on terrorist watch lists .

The temple trust, in consultation with local authorities, decided to restrict these offerings as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of devotees and the temple premises. This move was part of a broader effort to enhance security, including the installation of bomb-proof walls and surveillance systems .

However, the ban faced significant opposition from devotees and religious groups, leading to widespread protests and public outcry. In response, the Maharashtra government formed a committee to review the decision. The committee recommended allowing the offerings again, provided that additional security measures, such as the installation of scanners and increased police presence, were implemented. Consequently, the ban was lifted, and devotees were once again permitted to offer coconuts and garlands at the temple .

This episode highlighted the complex balance between preserving religious traditions and ensuring public safety in places of worship.
