News Topical, Digital Desk : The NIA has registered a new case against Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu. It is alleged that Pannu offered a reward of ₹11 crore for preventing Prime Minister Narendra Modi from hoisting the tricolor at the Red Fort on Independence Day. The FIR also states that he released a map of a new Khalistan, which includes Punjab, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, and Haryana.

Pannu is a member of the banned organization SFJ.

Pannu, a member of the banned organisation Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), has been booked for conspiring and propagating the creation of Khalistan state by separating Punjab from India.

The Home Ministry had informed the NIA that Pannu had addressed a press conference at the Lahore Press Club on August 10, virtually from Washington DC, in which he had announced a reward of Rs 11 crore to any Sikh soldier who would stop the Prime Minister from hoisting the tricolour at the Red Fort.

Case registered in India under several sections

During this time, he also displayed a referendum map titled "Delhi Banega Khalistan." Based on information from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the NIA has registered a case against Pannu and other unidentified individuals under sections 61(2) (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

Pannu came into the news last year

Pannu came into the limelight last year when the US accused him of involvement in the attack plot involving a former Indian official.

Indian citizen Nikhil Gupta is imprisoned in the US in this case, and former RAW officer Vikas Yadav is also a co-accused. This is the seventh NIA FIR filed against Pannu and his organization.
