New Delhi: The Supreme Court refused to grant bail to a Chinese citizen. The court said that the allegations against the petitioner are of very serious nature. A bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra said on Tuesday that given the seriousness of the crime, the court will not consider the petition seeking bail at the moment. The case is still pending.

Petitioner can go to High Court

The petitioner can go to the High Court after the expiry of the six-month period. This option is open. Chinese citizen Ryan alias Ren Chao had approached the apex court against the July 31 order of the Allahabad High Court.

What is the charge against the Chinese citizen?

Ren Chao is accused of staying in the country even after his visa expired and running an international crime racket and being involved in illegal activities. Ren Chao was arrested by the Noida Police on July 9, 2022 on charges of fraud, forgery and criminal conspiracy. He was also charged under the Foreigners Act.
