Congress leader Pawan Khera said that SEBI's role is to regulate the stock market, where we all invest our money. It has a very important role. Khera alleged that Madhabi Puri Buch was taking salary from ICICI Bank despite being SEBI chairman.

Income of Rs 16 crore 80 lakh from ICICI Bank

He said that SEBI Chairman Madhabi Puri Buch was taking a regular income of Rs 16 crore 80 lakh from ICICI Bank between 2017 and 2024. She is a full-time member of SEBI, then why were you taking salary from ICICI, this is a big question. This is a violation of rules. After this, her salary also increased in 2019-20.

Congress also asked who appoints the chairman of SEBI? This is the appointment committee of the cabinet, Prime Minister and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. There are two members in this committee and they are responsible for the appointment of the chairman of SEBI.

Accused of taking salary from three places

The Congress leader also alleged that the SEBI chief was drawing salary from three places. He said Madhabi was drawing salary from ICICI Bank, ICICI Prudential and SEBI.
