New Delhi: Due to continuous rain, the mountain rivers including Ganga, Son, Punpun and Falgu have started overflowing in Bihar. The water level of Ganga in Saran has reached two centimeters above the danger mark. Due to this, flood water has entered more than a dozen villages of the Diara region. Flood water has risen on many roads.

In Buxar, the Ganga is four cm below the danger mark. More than a dozen villages are surrounded by water here. Water has entered more than 50 houses in two wards of Chausa. Traffic has come to a halt as the Chausa-Dehri main road has been submerged in water. In Bhojpur district, the Ganga is flowing 39 cm above the danger mark. The water level of the Son river continues to rise.

Crack in the embankment at Khalim Chak

On Tuesday, 3.30 lakh cusecs of water was released into the Son River from the Indrapuri Barrage located in Dehri, Rohtas. Due to the rise in the Son, five sheep herders got stuck with about six hundred sheep on a mound in Aurangabad district. On receiving the information, the SDRF team has been called from Gaya. The Falgu River has again risen in Jehanabad district. The gate of the Udera Sthan Barrage located in Vanbaria of Hulasganj has been opened.

On the other hand, due to flood in Lokain river in Nalanda district, the embankment near Musadhi village has broken by about 15 feet. The embankment has cracked in Khalim Chak. Jirain river is flowing 2.17 meters above the danger mark.

Flood water reached the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham complex

The water level of Ganga-Yamuna in Prayagraj of Uttar Pradesh and Ganga in Varanasi has decreased slightly in the last 24 hours. The water level of Ganga in Prayagraj has decreased by 26 cm and Yamuna by 30 cm. The water level of Ganga in Varanasi has stabilized at 70.83 meters on Tuesday, 43 cm below the danger mark. Flood water has reached the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham complex. Boats are running in Manikarnika Ghat and Assi streets.

Water can make the situation worse

The water level of Ganga in Farrukhabad rose by five centimetres to reach the danger mark of 137.10 metres, indicating that the Bhagirathi flood is not going to stop yet. The situation may worsen due to the 1,62,668 cusecs of water released into the Ganga from the Narora dam. The flow of Saryu continuously above the danger mark in Ayodhya, Mau, Azamgarh and Ballia is also testing the villages surrounded by difficulties due to floods.
