New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on an official visit to Brunei and Singapore from today. PM Modi will be on a visit to Brunei till September 4 at the invitation of Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah. This is the first bilateral visit of an Indian Prime Minister to that country.

Modi's visit to Singapore 

After Brunei, Modi will visit Singapore on September 4 and 5 at the invitation of his Singaporean counterpart Lawrence Wong. He is visiting Singapore after almost six years. During the visit, Modi will meet Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and hold talks with the Singaporean leadership

What is on Modi's agenda?

  • On Modi's visit to Brunei, Ministry of External Affairs Secretary (East) Jaideep Mazumdar said that the Prime Minister will hold bilateral discussions on all aspects of relations and cooperation with Brunei.
  • During his visit, Modi will focus on strengthening relations with Brunei in various areas like defence, trade and investment, energy, space, technology, health, capacity building, cultural exchange.
  • At the same time, PM Modi will emphasize on increasing the flow of trade and investment during his Singapore visit. 
  • During this period, important discussions will also take place on defence cooperation and increasing exchange in culture and education.
  • Increasing investment in India by interacting with CEOs and other business leaders in Singapore will also be on the agenda during Modi's visit.
