New Delhi: Modi government has taken forward its resolve for the holistic development of the tribal community and on Wednesday the Union Cabinet approved the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Unnat Gram Abhiyan. The aim of this scheme is to improve the socio-economic condition of the tribals. A total of Rs 79156 crore will be spent on the scheme, out of which the central government will give Rs 56333 crore while the states will share Rs 22823 crore.
Five crore tribals will benefit
Under the scheme, the aspiring districts and tribal-dominated villages of the country will be developed comprehensively. In which 63000 tribal-dominated villages across the country will be covered and they will be taken to saturation mode in basic amenities and infrastructure. Five crore tribals will benefit from this scheme.
This scheme will be implemented in 549 tribal-dominated districts and 2740 blocks of 30 states and union territories across the country. Pradhan Mantri Janjati Unnat Gram Abhiyan aims to ensure sustainable development of tribal areas and tribal communities by bridging the gap in social infrastructure, health, education, livelihood through various schemes of the Government of India.
Pucca houses will be constructed
In the implementation of this scheme, 17 ministries of the central government will work in 25 areas. The amount allocated under the Tribal Development Scheme will be spent on schemes related to four objectives in the next five years, which include development of infrastructure in villages, construction of permanent houses, promotion of economic empowerment including skill development, promotion of entrepreneurship and promotion of self-employment. Various ministries will work together under this scheme, in which the Ministry of Urban Development will build 20 lakh houses and 25000 kilometers of rural roads will be constructed.
The infrastructure of labour, schools and hostels will improve
Every household in the village is to be provided with all kinds of government facilities including clean drinking water facility, electricity connection, establishment of mobile medical unit, Ayushman card, LPG connection. Apart from this, there are provisions for setting up 100 tribal multi-purpose marketing centers, improving the infrastructure of ashrams, schools and hostels, setting up centers to deal with the shortage of sickle cells and blood, and many other such facilities.
