New Delhi: Due to the rains in the last few days, flood-like conditions have arisen in many states of North India. 24 districts of Uttar Pradesh are in the grip of floods. Hundreds of villages here are affected by floods. Ganga, Varuna and Ghaghra rivers are in spate in UP.

35 villages of Gonda district are affected by floods. People's lives are being affected by floods in Ballia too. Saryu river is in spate in Ayodhya. Many districts of Jharkhand and West Bengal are in the grip of floods. In Bihar too, many villages have been cut off due to floods. Flood water has entered 250 villages in Odisha.

Floods also increased problems in Bihar

Due to the rising water level of the Ganges river in Bihar, several villages in the Raghopur Diara Assembly constituency have been flooded. This is Tejashwi Yadav's constituency. Many villages have lost connectivity with the main roads. Farmers are also facing a crisis of animal fodder. The Judwanpur police station is also in the grip of the flood. In Aurangabad district, a mother and son drowned in the strong current of the Batane river. Three people were rescued. In Saran, the Gandak river is eroding near Hazalpur, Baikunthpur and Laguniya villages. Floodwater has entered the site of the under-construction six-lane bridge in Vaishali.

Life in Jharkhand is in disarray

Due to continuous rains in Jharkhand, Saraswati, Danro, Swarnarekha and Kharkai rivers are in spate. After the water was released from the dams, water has entered many houses. Latehar and Garhwa have seen the most destruction. Many villages in Saraikela have been put on alert.

Flood water entered 250 villages in Odisha

In Odisha's Balasore district, the water of the Subarnarekha river has entered more than 250 villages. The administration has shifted more than 400 people to safer places. Here, 264 villages of 56 gram panchayats and 17 wards of Jaleswar municipality are affected by the floods. Due to the rains for the last four days, there is a flood-like situation in the Subarnarekha, Budhabalang and Jalaka rivers.

Flood in many districts of West Bengal

Flood-like situation has arisen in many districts of the southern part of West Bengal due to heavy rains and water released from barrages. Two people have also lost their lives in the state. Some areas of Birbhum, Bankura, Howrah, Hooghly, North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Medinipur, West Bardhaman districts are flooded.

NDRF teams engaged in relief and rescue

1,33,750 cusecs of water was released from Durgapur Barrage, 40,000 cusecs from Kangsabati Dam, 2,00,000 cusecs from Maithon Dam and 50,000 cusecs from Panchet Dam. Rupnarayan, Dwarakeshwar, Shilabati, Kaliaghai and Kalapaleshwari rivers are flowing above the danger mark. 17 teams of State Disaster Relief are deployed in Hooghly, Bankura, West Medinipur, North 24 Parganas, Howrah and East and West Medinipur districts. Eight teams of NDRF are engaged in relief and rescue work in Hooghly, Howrah, West and East Medinipur and South 24 Parganas districts.

Flood in UP: 23 thousand people homeless in Prayagraj

Many districts of Uttar Pradesh are in the grip of floods. However, there has been a slight decrease in the water level of Yamuna and Ganga. In Ayodhya, Mau, Azamgarh and Ballia, the Saryu river is flowing above the danger mark. Meanwhile, 1,62,668 cusecs of water has been released into the Ganga river from the Narora dam. Flood water has entered about 3 thousand houses in Prayagraj district. 30 thousand people are affected here. About 23 thousand people have become homeless.

Boats running in the streets of Varanasi

About four and a half thousand people are affected by the flood in Varanasi. The flood water has reached the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham complex. Boats are being operated in the streets of Manikarnika and Assi Ghat. People are having to cremate the dead bodies in the streets. In many villages of Kannauj, the water of the Ganges has reached the houses. There is a danger of flood in Unnao. People in Ghazipur and Mirzapur are scared of the flood.
