New Delhi: The controversy over the laddu of the world famous Tirupati Balaji temple has created a political uproar in the entire country including Andhra Pradesh. Two giants of South Indian films Prakash Raj and actor turned politician Pawan Kalyan have also come face to face on this issue. The matter has reached the Supreme Court.

Former Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) chairman YV Subba Reddy also demanded an inquiry by an independent committee. But this controversy does not seem to have much effect on the devotees. He says that the laddu controversy is now a thing of the past. The sale of laddus in Tirupati temple continues as before. On an average, 3.50 lakh laddus are sold in the temple every day. More than 14 lakh laddus have been sold in four days.

Why is Tirupati Prasad special?

Thousands of devotees from all over the world come to the world famous Tirupati Balaji temple in Andhra Pradesh to have darshan of Lord Venkatesh every day. The Prasadam here has its own religious significance. Devotees often buy Prasadam from here and take it with them. Laddus are prepared from almonds, raisins, cashews, Bengal gram, sugar and cow ghee.

Chandrababu Naidu had alleged

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had alleged that Tirupati Balaji temple's laddus contained animal fat. He had also targeted the previous YSRCP government. The state government got the matter investigated and said that the lab report had also confirmed it.

Chandrababu Naidu had alleged that former CM Jagan Mohan Reddy had allowed the use of substandard ingredients and animal fat in laddus. He further said that now pure ghee is being used. However, Jagan Mohan Reddy accused Naidu of playing politics.
