News Topical, Digital Desk : The Indian Postal Department is preparing to assign franchisees to improve postal services. Franchisees will operate in areas where post offices are absent or located at a considerable distance. The Lucknow Postal Division has invited applications for this purpose. Franchises may also be opened in other districts of the state.
Franchisees will be entrusted with various tasks, including booking speed post. Individuals or firms that meet the criteria can take on franchise work. They will be paid a fixed commission. The Postal Department has launched the "New Franchise Scheme 2.0" to make services accessible and better.
Its objective is to provide postal services to areas (rural and new urban areas) that do not have full-fledged post offices. Senior Postmaster Awadhesh Mishra stated that the franchised outlets will be able to sell postage stamps and book speed post.
Applicants must be over 18 years of age and have a minimum qualification of 10th grade. Franchisees will be paid a commission per speed post. Detailed standard operating procedures (SOPs) can be found at https://ww.indiapost.gov.in/vacancies/franchise.
Commission will be given on bookings
- Three rupees per registered article
- Five rupees on speed post
- Money order booking of Rs 100 to Rs 200 charges Rs 3.50
- Five rupees for booking money order above Rs 200
- Five percent on the sale of postage stamps and materials
These services will be available
- Sale of postage stamps and stationery.
- Booking of registered items, speed post items, money orders.
- To act as an agent for Postal Life Insurance (PLI) and provide related after sales service including collection of premium.
- To provide retail services like billing, tax, penalty collection and payment services of the department.
- Facilitate e-governance and provision of citizen-centric services.
- Any other service launched by the department in future through its outlets.
