New Delhi: Responding to US officials' remarks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Russia, India has said that New Delhi and Moscow have long-standing relations and in a multipolar world, every country has the freedom to make choices. It is worth noting that recently Prime Minister Modi went on an official visit to Russia, after which top US official Donald Lu expressed disappointment over it and said that Washington is concerned about it and is talking to India. Now the Indian Foreign Ministry has reacted to this statement of Donald Lu.

We must be aware of the realities: India

According to information given by news agency ANI, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, 'We must understand that India has a long-term relationship with Russia, which is based on each other's interests. In the current multipolar world, all countries have their freedom of choice and everyone should be aware and appreciate such realities.

The US ambassador had also raised objections

Before Donald Lu, US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti had also objected to PM Modi's visit. Commenting in this regard, he had said that there is no such thing as strategic autonomy in times of conflict. The US Ambassador said, 'I know India likes its strategic autonomy and I respect that, but there is no such thing as strategic autonomy in times of conflict. In moments of crisis, we need to know each other. I don't care what title we give it, but we need to know that we are trusted friends, brothers and sisters and allies in times of need.'

India gave a blunt answer

Reacting to Garcetti's remarks, the Foreign Ministry had said that India values its strategic autonomy and we have our own different views. The Foreign Ministry had said that the comprehensive global strategic partnership between the two countries gives them space to agree to disagree on some issues while respecting each other's views.

Many important agreements were signed during the Russia visit

Earlier, PM Modi met President Vladimir Putin on an official visit to Russia. During this, the two countries had set a target to eliminate non-tariff trade barriers and achieve mutual trade of over 100 billion US dollars by 2030. After the meeting, the two leaders issued a joint statement and decided to continue the dialogue on the liberalization of bilateral trade, including the possibility of establishing an EAEU-India free trade zone.
