News Topical, Digital Desk : In the Bareilly violence case, police have arrested 73 people, including Maulana Tauqeer. One of the accused, Tajim, was captured in an encounter. Meanwhile, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board has issued a condemnable statement.
The All India Muslim Personal Law Board strongly condemns the arrest of Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan and the actions taken against him and others. The Board stated that the threatening statements made by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the police's behavior clearly indicate an attempt to suppress peaceful protests. The Board demanded the immediate and unconditional release of all those arrested.
Board spokesperson made allegations
Board spokesperson Dr. S.Q.R. Ilyas stated in a press statement that peaceful protests by the Muslim community against the Kanpur incident are not a crime. He alleged that the police, adopting an aggressive and irresponsible attitude, abused their power and tortured innocent people.
They argue that displaying slogans or banners that read "I Love Mohammad" is neither illegal nor unconstitutional. People of other religions in India also express similar reverence for their respective personalities, but no action is ever taken against them. Therefore, filing an FIR in connection with the Kanpur incident is discriminatory and condemnable.
Spokesperson roared at CM Yogi's statement
Dr. Ilyas also stated that the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister's arrogant and harsh language against Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan and the peaceful protesters in Bareilly is beneath the dignity of the Chief Minister's office. He added that the Chief Minister is not the leader of any one community, but the constitutional representative of the entire state, and should refrain from using biased or communal language.
The spokesperson clarified that Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan is a respected and responsible community leader who had only called for peaceful protests. This is completely legitimate under the Constitution and democratic rights. Protesting against any government action is a fundamental right of every citizen.
The All India Muslim Personal Law Board demanded that Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan and all those arrested in the peaceful protest be released immediately and the cases registered against them be withdrawn without delay.
