
Mohini Ekadashi Vrat 2025: There are two Ekadashi in every month, on which day Lord Vishnu is worshipped. From this year, there are a total of 24 Ekadashi fasts in a year. In the month of May, Mohini Ekadashi, which gives fruits equivalent to the donation of a thousand cows, and Apara Ekadashi fast, which gives fruits equivalent to 100 yagyas, will be observed.
It is said that on the day of Ekadashi, the condition of the earth is such that the energy of the universe is flowing. Therefore, living beings feel less hungry on that day. That is why sages and saints used to fast on the date of Ekadashi, so that they could also connect themselves with that energy. Fasting also purifies the body.
According to religious beliefs, by observing Ekadashi fast, a person becomes free from sins. After enjoying life with happiness and prosperity, one finally attains salvation. Reading or listening to the Mohini Ekadashi Vrat Katha gives virtue equivalent to donating a thousand cows.
Mohini Ekadashi will fall on 8 May
According to the Hindu calendar, Mohini Ekadashi fast is observed every year in the Shukla Paksha of the month of Vaishakh. Ekadashi Tithi will be on May 7 at 10:19 am and the Tithi will end the next day i.e. on May 8 at 12:29 pm. This year Mohini Ekadashi Vrat will be observed on Thursday, May 8, 2025.
Time to break the fast
The Mohini Ekadashi fast will be observed on 9 May 2025. The auspicious time for fasting will be from 5:34 am to 8:16 am.
Importance of Mohini Ekadashi
By observing the fast of Mohini Ekadashi, all the sins of a person are destroyed. On this day, the Mohini form of Lord Vishnu is worshipped. When the demons snatched the nectar that came out after the churning of the ocean, Lord Vishnu took the form of Mohini. The fast of Mohini Ekadashi is observed in memory of that incident.
