News Topical, Digital Desk : BJP's Manipur MLAs held a meeting at the house of former minister Biswajit on Friday night. The MLAs said that a long-term solution to the crisis in the state is necessary. This solution should be based on the pillars of political will, inclusive dialogue, constitutional protection and impartial support of law and order.

23 MLAs discussed Manipur violence

"We feel the pain suffered by the people of Manipur over the last two years. As elected representatives, we firmly believe that a long-term solution to the crisis is both possible and necessary," the statement signed by 23 MLAs said.

It was considered in the meeting that the Governor and the central leadership should be approached to form a peace ambassador or committee. The MLAs said, we emphasize the importance of dialogue between civil groups, student organizations, people. The MLAs also accepted the people's desire to form a popular government.

Manipur is under President's rule

It is worth noting that more than 260 people have been killed and thousands have been rendered homeless in ethnic violence in Manipur since May 2023. There is President's rule in the state after the resignation of the then Chief Minister Biren Singh. The assembly is suspended.
