News Topical, Digital Desk : Union Minister of State for Transport and Roads Ajay Tamta visited the disaster affected areas in Seraj Assembly constituency of Mandi district on Sunday (14 September). During this, former Chief Minister of Himachal and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur was also present. Apart from this, all the senior officers and technical experts of the National Highway Authority were also present. He also instructed the concerned officials to work according to the complaints and demands of the people. A target has been set to restore the National Highway till Manali by 20 September.
He also visited Balichowki in Seraj and closely inspected the dilapidated condition of National Highway 305 and directed the State Public Works Department to repair this NH with immediate effect. The minister also visited Mani village and directed to restore the major district road Thachi soon and to build a valley bridge here immediately and asked to send the estimate.
Apple farmers suffer huge losses due to bad roads
Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur showed the damage everywhere and thanked Union Minister of State Ajay Tamta for coming here and said that his visit will speed up the restoration work. Due to the bad condition of roads here, apple orchardists and farmers are suffering losses worth crores in Kullu, Manali and Mandi.
Natural disaster has caused immense damage- Ajay Tamta
Talking to the media, Ajay Tamta said about the magnitude of the disaster, "This disaster in Himachal Pradesh is very painful. Many people have lost their lives and property worth thousands of crores has been destroyed. I visited the Siraj assembly constituency with former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur. He briefed me about the damage caused at all places. There has been a lot of damage here due to the natural disaster. Be it government infrastructure or people's private property, everything has been damaged on a large scale.
PM gave financial assistance of 1.5 thousand crores- Tamta
The Union Minister further said, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself has visited the disaster affected area and has given financial assistance of Rs. 1500 crores so that people can get immediate relief. Along with this, advance fund of more than Rs. 200 crores of NDRF and SDRF has also been given separately to Himachal Pradesh yesterday."
'Every effort is being made to provide relief to the affected'
Expressing gratitude to the Central Government, the Prime Minister and the BJP, he said, "Everyone has extended full support to the disaster-hit state. As per the Prime Minister's instructions, seven Union Ministers are assessing the damage in the disaster-affected areas of Himachal Pradesh and sharing the pain and sorrow of the people. All the ministers inspecting the disaster are making every possible effort to provide relief to the affected people."
On this occasion, Banjar MLA Surendra Shourie, Karsog's Deepraj, former minister Govind Thakur, former MP Maheshwar Singh, Kullu BJP leader Narottam Thakur, BJP District President Mandi Nihal Chand Sharma, Kullu's Amit Sood, Deputy Commissioner Mandi Apoorv Devgan, NHAI officials were present with him.
Inspection of Manali four lane from Kiratpur
Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Ajay Tamta on Sunday (September 14) along with former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur inspected the Kiratpur to Manali four-lane from Gadamoda to Manali, including Pandoh, Dwada flyover, Jhalogi tunnel, Thalout, Aut, Nagwai, Bhuntar, Kullu, Shird, Bindudhank and Manali and gave instructions to his NHAI officials.
