News Topical, Digital Desk : According to the Vedic calendar, Karva Chauth falls on Friday, October 10th. This festival is celebrated every year on the Chaturthi Tithi of the Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) of the month of Kartik. The scriptures describe the significance of this fast in detail. Observing this fast increases happiness and good fortune. Furthermore, the fasting person attains eternal good fortune.
This fast begins with the Sargi (a sacred meal). Women begin the fast by eating a plate of Sargi given by their mother-in-law before sunrise. They then observe a waterless fast throughout the day (until the moon rises).
In the evening, after bathing and meditating, she puts on new clothes. After this, she worships Goddess Karva and Lord Ganesha. During this time, she recites the story of Karva Chauth. After moonrise, she worships the Moon God. During this time, she offers water to the Moon God. After this, she first looks at the Moon through a sieve and then breaks her fast after seeing her husband.
However, sometimes bad weather makes it difficult to see the moon. In such situations, devotees become perplexed about how to break their fast. Let's find out how to break the fast if the moon is not visible on Karwa Chauth ( Karwa Chauth 2025).
How to break the fast?
If the sky is clear, break your fast by worshipping the Moon God according to the rules prescribed by the scriptures. If the Moon is not visible (if the weather is not clear), offer water to the Moon God at moonrise ( Karwa Chauth Moon Rising) and perform the prescribed puja. If you wish, you can also complete the fast by gazing at the Moon God seated on Lord Shiva's head.
For this, determine the direction and time and offer water to the Moon God with devotion. During this time, view the Moon God through a sieve. Then, break the fast by looking at your husband through the sieve. If you don't have a statue of Lord Shiva at home, create a moon shape using rice or pure flour on a platform on the roof. After this, worship the Moon God according to the rituals.
