News Topical, Digital Desk : Actors Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday's romantic comedy "Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri" failed to do well at the box office. Now, a report claims that Kartik has waived his ₹15 crore fee following the film's poor performance.
Kartik Aaryan cuts his fees
Kartik has voluntarily cut his fee by ₹15 crore for Dharma Productions' film 'Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri' after the film underperformed at the box office. This comes amid rumors that Kartik has distanced himself from Karan Johar and his talent agency DCAA (Dharma Collab Artists Agency). The report states, "In fact, Kartik waived off ₹15 crore from his fee a few days after the film's release as a show of support for his producer," reports Bollywood Hungama.
Karthik has done this before too
A few years ago, when Kartik's film Shehzada didn't perform well at the box office, he stood by his producers and waived a significant portion of his fees. Shehzada was the official Hindi remake of the Telugu film Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, starring Allu Arjun in the lead role.
Fees were also left for the prince
In 2023, in an interview with ETimes, Kartik explained why he returned his actor fee for Shehzada. When asked if he had reduced his fee as a producer on Shehzada or was working on a profit-share basis, Kartik said, “Initially, I wasn't associated with Shehzada as a producer. Initially, I took my fee and remuneration. The film was in trouble, and they needed someone to step in. So, I asked my producer, and then I gave up my money. That's how it all happened, the production and me becoming a co-producer.”
When asked if he returned his fee, the actor said, "Almost, almost. In a way, it eased some of the burden on the film. I signed this film before I had even signed Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, so... both films were running simultaneously. Thankfully, this film (Shehzada) didn't have a big budget, but it's an action film, so it needed some budget. At one point, we were facing some difficulties, which is why I had to give up my fee."
You are mine, I am yours, I am yours, you are mine.
Sameer Vidwan's romantic comedy, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri (TMMTMTTM), released in theaters on Christmas and received mixed reviews. This film marks Kartik and Ananya's second collaboration, having previously worked together in the 2019 film Pati Patni Aur Woh. Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri also stars Jackie Shroff and Neena Gupta in pivotal roles. It is produced by Karan Johar under his production banner Dharma Productions.
