News Topical, Digital Desk : UP News: The controversy over the name and identity of the owners of shops and dhabas on the Kanwar Yatra route in Meerut has taken a new turn. Now Mayor Harikant Ahluwalia has taken a tough stand in this matter and said that the intention to disrupt the Kanwar Yatra by writing wrong name or identity will not be tolerated. He has instructed the officials to take strict action and said that those selling wrong items will be monitored.

Meanwhile, the municipal corporation has planned to spend around Rs 1 crore on cleanliness, roads, mobile toilets and water tankers for the preparations of Kanwar Yatra.

Mayor 's strong statement: ' Misidentification will not be tolerated '

Speaking on the nameplate controversy on the Kanwar route, Mayor Harikant Ahluwalia said that if the name is written one thing and something else happens, it will not be tolerated. What is the problem in writing names on dhabas and carts? Our councilors and workers can give information about such people with wrong intentions. He further said that Kanwar Yatra is a matter of faith. Some people try to disrupt the yatra by giving wrong identity or selling wrong items. Strict action will be taken against such people.

Strictness on selling wrong items on Kanwar route

Harikant Ahluwalia clarified that during the Kanwar Yatra, those selling wrong food items will be kept under strict surveillance to maintain the sanctity of Gangajal and Shivling. He said that this is the biggest religious journey in the world. Kanwariyas take Gangajal with a true heart and offer it to Shivling. Those with wrong intentions will not be spared.

Preparations by the Municipal Corporation

On the other hand, Meerut Municipal Corporation has made extensive arrangements to make the Kanwar Yatra smooth and clean. The mayor said that about one crore rupees will be spent for cleaning, road repair, mobile toilets, and water tankers. He said that we are committed to the convenience of Kanwariyas. Roads are being repaired, special attention is being paid to cleanliness, and arrangements for mobile toilets and water will be ensured.
