In his statement to the police, Kamal R. Khan admitted that he was cleaning his licensed gun and fired the shots to check its functionality. During interrogation, he told police that he had no intention of harming anyone and was simply cleaning his gun.
KRK explained that he fired a shot into a large mangrove forest in front of his house to test the gun's functioning. He thought the bullet would be lost in the mangrove forest. However, due to the wind, the bullet traveled a little further and hit a building in Oshiwara.
