
News Topical, Digital Desk : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has summoned the autumn session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on October 23, 2025. The Assembly Secretariat has issued a notification on behalf of LG Manoj Sinha convening the session. The Lieutenant Governor formally summoned the autumn session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly in Srinagar on Thursday (October 23, 2025) at 10:00 am. All members of the Assembly have been informed of this.
Following the amendment request from the Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has called the autumn session with a delay of ten days.
Earlier, it was recommended to convene the session from October 13.
The Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet had initially recommended convening the autumn session for a period of seven days, starting October 13th and ending on October 20th. However, after consultation with the Speaker of the Assembly, the Cabinet revised the session's commencement date to October 23rd to allow sufficient time for the submission of questions, bills, and resolutions and their scrutiny by the Assembly Secretariat.

"In exercise of the powers under Section 18(1) of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019, the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly is hereby summoned to meet on October 23, 2025 at 10:00 am," Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said in his official order.
What did the LG say to all the members of the Assembly?
All members of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly have been requested to make all necessary arrangements to attend the autumn session on the revised date. According to the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019, the LG can convene the session at any time, but there must be at least two sessions in six months. This session will also see elections for four vacant Rajya Sabha seats held on October 24th through three separate elections.
