News Topical, Digital Desk : US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that terrible atrocities are taking place in Sudan. He said, "Once considered a great civilization, this country has now become the most violent place in the world and the biggest humanitarian crisis has arisen." Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social that there is a huge shortage of food, doctors and every essential thing there.
Trump said that several Arab leaders, including the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, have urged him to use his power and influence as US President to immediately stop the ongoing violence in Sudan. The Saudi Crown Prince recently returned from the US. Trump said that Sudan's great civilization and culture have been damaged, but with the cooperation of the countries of the region, it can be restored.
America will mediate, work together with regional countries
Trump promised that the US would work with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Egypt, and other Middle Eastern allies to end atrocities in Sudan and stabilize the country. He wrote, "We will work to end these atrocities, as well as stabilize Sudan. Thank you for your attention to this matter. God bless the world!"
Great hope for a ceasefire
Earlier, Sudan's Rapid Support Forces (RSF) accepted the US-led proposal. After more than two years of war, the RSF approved the humanitarian ceasefire proposal of the 'Quad' mediation group consisting of the US, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the UAE. The RSF said in a statement that it accepts this ceasefire to reduce the devastating humanitarian consequences of the war and increase the protection of civilians.
Both sides agreed in principle
Senior US adviser Massad Boulos said efforts are underway to reach a ceasefire and that both sides have agreed in principle. According to Al Jazeera, both sides have faced serious allegations of war crimes during the conflict.
The World Health Organization said more than 460 patients and medical staff were brutally murdered during the occupation of a former children's hospital.
A United Nations Human Rights Council report in September found overwhelming evidence of extrajudicial killings, widespread attacks on civilians, torture, and sexual violence, particularly by members of the RSF and SAF, both sides.
