News Topical, Digital Desk : In today's modern environment, ChatGPT has made people's lives easier. Meanwhile, news has emerged that may surprise you. In fact, OpenAI is facing seven lawsuits, alleging that ChatGPT has driven people to suicide and harmful delusions, despite having no mental health issues.
7 lawsuits filed against OpenAI
According to an Associated Press report, lawsuits were filed against OpenAI in California state courts on Thursday. They allege wrongful death, assisted suicide, involuntary manslaughter and negligence.
What is the whole matter?
According to the report, six individuals and a teenager filed a lawsuit on behalf of the Social Media Victim Law Center and the Tech Justice Law Project. They claim that OpenAI intentionally released GPT-40 prematurely, despite internal warnings that it was dangerously manipulative and psychologically deceptive. This led to the suicide of four victims.
According to the lawsuit filed in San Francisco Superior Court, 17-year-old Amaury Lacey began using ChatGPT for help. The lawsuit claims that instead of helping, the flawed and inherently dangerous ChatGPT product led to addiction and depression.
There is no response from OpenAI yet.
The lawsuit alleges that Amaury's death was neither an accident nor a coincidence, but rather a likely consequence of OpenAI and Samuel Altman's deliberate decision to minimize security testing and rush ChatGPT to market. However, OpenAI did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Thursday.
