News Topical, Digital Desk : Seven people have been killed in clashes with security forces during ongoing protests in Iran against the Islamic regime led by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Due to the deteriorating economy and rising inflation, the people of Iran have come out on the streets and are protesting against the supreme leader of the country.

Protests continue in Iran

Numerous videos are emerging from Iran showing protesters chanting slogans against a particular religion. They say, "This homeland will not be free until the mullahs are exposed." Protesters in Iran also chanted, “The mullahs must leave Iran.”

The Iranian government is taking action against the ongoing protests. The government's actions have somewhat reduced the demonstrations in Tehran, the capital of Iran, but in some parts of the country, people are still protesting against the government. However, these protests over inflation have not yet spread to the entire country.

Government action against protesters

"Following a coordinated operation by security and intelligence agencies, 30 people were identified and arrested last night on charges of disturbing public order in the Malard district of western Tehran," according to the news agency Tasnim.

Why is Iran burning?

Protests in Iran began on Sunday, December 27, 2025. The first protests occurred in the Iranian capital, Tehran, where shopkeepers began a strike to protest rising prices and economic stagnation. These protests have since spread to other parts of the country.

According to the Associated Press (AP), two people died during these protests on Wednesday, December 31, and five on Thursday, January 1. These deaths occurred in four cities in Iran, predominantly inhabited by the Lur ethnic group.

The sound of gunfire echoing through the streets

A video of the violence in Iran has also surfaced, showing people chanting "shameless, shameless." Violence erupted in Ajna, a city in Lorestan province, about 300 kilometers from Tehran. Videos from there showed burning objects in the streets and the sound of gunfire.

Iran is witnessing protests against rising inflation, and the situation is spiraling out of control. The government is making frequent arrests to try to curb these protests.
