Nationalist Congress Party's general meeting was held at Mumbai's Y.B. Chavan Center on Tuesday, in which Sharad Pawar, Jayant Patil, former minister Anil Deshmukh, Jitendra Awhad, Harshvardhan Patil, Shashikant Shinde and other prominent leaders were present. Many leaders expressed their views in the meeting.
During this, Anil Deshmukh proposed the name of Shashikant Shinde for the post of state president, which was unanimously approved by all the leaders. After this, Sharad Pawar announced the name of Shashikant Shinde.

Regarding Shashikant Shinde being made the state president, Sharad Pawar said, "The name suggested by Anil Deshmukh has also been supported by MP Amol Kolhe. Only one name has emerged in this election process, that of Shashikant Shinde." With this, Sharad Pawar officially declared him the new state president of the party.
Jayant Patil had sought relief from responsibility
