When is Indira Ekadashi celebrated?

Indira Ekadashi is celebrated during Pitru Paksha. By offering tarpan to ancestors on this day, ancestors of three generations attain salvation. For this, tarpan is done three times during the time of tarpan. This festival is celebrated every year on Ekadashi Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Ashwin month. On this day, Lord Vishnu, the savior of the world, and Mother Lakshmi are worshipped.

Indira Ekadashi (Indira Ekadashi 2025)

According to the Vedic calendar, the Ekadashi date of Krishna Paksha of Ashwin month is on 17 September. This date will start at 12:21 am on 16 September (according to the Hindi calendar). At the same time, Ekadashi date will end at 11:39 pm on 17 September. Thus, Indira Ekadashi will be celebrated on 17 September.

When is Papankusha Ekadashi celebrated?

Papankusha Ekadashi is celebrated on the Ekadashi date of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month. Vijayadashami is celebrated a day before this. Vijayadashami is also called Dussehra. At the same time, Sharadiya Navratri is celebrated from Pratipada date to Navami date of Shukla Paksha. Fasting on Papankusha Ekadashi liberates one from sins committed knowingly or unknowingly.

According to the Vedic calendar, Ekadashi Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month will start on October 02 at 07:10 pm and Ekadashi Tithi will end on October 03 at 06:32 pm. Papankusha Ekadashi will be celebrated on October 02 as per Udaya Tithi calculation.
