The name of the next Chief of the Indian Air Force has been finalised. Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh has been appointed as the next Chief of the Air Force. Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh is currently serving as the Deputy Chief of the Air Force. He will take over as Air Chief Marshal as the next Air Force Chief from the afternoon of 30 September 2024. 

The current Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Vivek Ram Choudhary will retire on 30 September 2024, after which Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh will take command of the Air Force. Let us inform you that Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh took over as the 47th Deputy Chief of the Indian Air Force on 1 February 2023. Prior to this, he was the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Central Air Command in Prayagraj. His journey in the Indian Air Force started in 1984.

During his career, Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh has commanded an operational fighter squadron and a frontline air base. As a test pilot, he led the MiG-29 fighter upgrade project management team in Moscow and was also the Project Director (Flight Test) of the indigenous Tejas Light Combat Aircraft.
