News Topical, Digital Desk : Nasscom On H-1B Visa Fee Hike: Trump's order to increase H-1B visa fees has raised concerns within the Indian IT industry. India's top IT industry body, Nasscom, said the decision to increase the H-1B visa fee to $100,000 annually could directly impact the global operations of Indian IT services companies. Additionally, it could create uncertainty for thousands of professionals working in the US.
NASSCOM alerted
The IT industry's top body also expressed concern over the September 21 deadline for implementing the increased amount. Nasscom said the one-day deadline creates significant uncertainty for businesses, professionals, and students around the world.
According to a statement, the US move will affect Indian citizens holding H1B visas working for global and Indian companies. It added, "We are reviewing the finer details of the order. Such adjustments could have implications for the US innovation ecosystem and the broader employment economy."
Question on one day time limit
NASSCOM also stated that IT services companies in India will be affected, while business continuity will be disrupted for projects underway abroad that may require adjustments. According to NASSCOM, policy changes of this scale should be given sufficient time to allow organizations and individuals to plan effectively and minimize disruption.
High-skilled talent is critical to driving innovation, competitiveness, and growth for the US economy, the statement said. This is especially important at a time when advances in artificial intelligence (AI) and other cutting-edge technologies are poised to define global competitiveness.
