News Topical, Digital Desk : Police in the US have arrested an Indian-American student on charges of arson and threatening. Authorities say the accused allegedly tried to set his house on fire several days ago.

Manoj Sai Lella, a student at the University of Texas at Dallas, was arrested on Monday and charged with arson with intent to damage a dwelling or place of worship.

What are the allegations against Manoj?

Manoj's family has filed a complaint against him. They say he suffers from mental health issues. A few days ago, he tried to set their house on fire and is now issuing life-threatening threats to the family.

A fine of lakhs may be imposed

The charges against Manoj include a Class A felony. He made terroristic threats against family and household members, a Class A felony. According to US police, there is no evidence yet of a threat against a place of worship. However, if Manoj is convicted, he could face a bail amount of $100,000 (approximately ₹90 lakh) and a fine of $3,500 (approximately ₹300,000).
