News Topical, Digital Desk : Amidst the tension between India and America on trade and tariff, the Trump administration has now accepted that India is not a country that takes decisions under pressure from any country.
US Finance Minister Scott Bessant has made a big statement after being upset with India's stance. He said that India is showing a 'slightly stubborn' attitude in trade talks with the US.
It is clear from this statement of America that the cleverness of the Trump government has faded in front of Indian diplomacy. Scott Besant gave this answer when he was asked a question about the trade deal between India and America.
He said, "This is a bit of a difficult target. But we are in a good position. The big trade deals that have not been agreed upon yet include Switzerland and India. India has been a bit stubborn."
He further said that US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer and teams of lawyers are busy finalizing these deals.
Talks continue between India and US
US President Donald Trump has recently announced a 50 percent tariff on India. Out of this, 25 percent tariff has been imposed because of India's purchase of oil from Russia. This tariff will come into effect from August 27.
This step has been taken when the US team is scheduled to visit India on August 25 for the sixth round of talks on the trade agreement between the two countries.
