News Topical, Digital Desk : India on Friday successfully test-fired the medium-range ballistic missile Agni-3 from the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur, Odisha. Officials said all operational and technical parameters of the test were fully as expected. The launch was conducted under the supervision of the Strategic Forces Command. Agni-3 is a nuclear-capable missile with a range of approximately 3,000 to 3,500 kilometers. With this, India can target important targets located deep inside enemy countries.

Big threat to Pakistan and China?

The Agni-3's 3,000-3,500 km range covers the interior of Pakistan and China, including all major Pakistani cities and Chinese cities like Beijing and Shanghai. Thus, India has key targets in both countries within its reach. This missile is even more of a concern for Pakistan than for China, as it not only has the potential to wreak havoc on all of its cities, but it also has no counter to it. The Agni-3 is considered one of the world's most powerful mid-range missiles.

Why is Agni-3 so special for India?

Agni-3 is India's medium-range ballistic missile. It is a two-stage, solid-fuel missile with a length of 16.7 meters, a diameter of 2 meters, and a launch weight of 48,300 kilograms. It can carry a payload of up to 1,500 kilograms, including nuclear or conventional warheads, and has a flight altitude of over 450 kilometers. Developed by the DRDO, it can be launched from rail-mobile and road-mobile platforms. Its accuracy comes from advanced navigation and guidance systems. It has undergone several successful tests since 2006, and it is a vital component of India's defense capabilities.
