News Topical, Digital Desk : External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Saturday said after a phone conversation with his Finnish counterpart Elina Valtonen that India should not be unfairly targeted in the context of the Ukraine war.
This comment of the Foreign Minister is being seen in the context of US allegations that India is helping Moscow's 'war machine' by buying crude oil from Russia at concessional prices.
We have always supported dialogue and diplomacy- Jaishankar
Jaishankar said in a post on the internet media platform X-'Our discussion focused on the Ukraine war and its consequences. India should not be unfairly targeted in this context. We have always supported dialogue and diplomacy.'
White House trade adviser Peter Navarro said this week that the 50 per cent tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump on Indian goods are not just about unfair trade to India but are also aimed at cutting off the financial lifeline India provides to Moscow's war machine.
America did not criticize China
India has already rejected the allegations. Not surprisingly, the US has not criticised China, which is the biggest importer of Russian oil.
