News Topical, Digital Desk : Strong earthquake tremors were felt in India's neighboring country Afghanistan late on Sunday night. Several tremors of earthquake occurred till Sunday morning. This has caused massive destruction. So far more than 800 people have been reported dead. In such a situation, India has sent help to Afghanistan. 1000 family tents and 15 tons of food items have been sent by India. At the same time, more relief and rescue material will be sent by India in the coming days.

Giving information on the social media platform, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar wrote, "Talked to Afghanistan's Foreign Minister Maulvi Amir Khan Muttaki today. Expressed my condolences on the loss of life and property in the earthquake. Told that India has delivered tents for 1000 families in Kabul today. 15 tonnes of food items are also being delivered immediately from Kabul to Kunar by the Indian Mission. More relief material will be sent from India from tomorrow. I wish the injured a speedy recovery. India is with Afghanistan in this difficult time."

PM Modi expressed grief

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed deep sorrow at the loss of lives in the earthquake in Afghanistan and said India stands ready to provide all possible humanitarian assistance and relief to those affected. At least 800 people have been killed, 1,300 injured and several villages destroyed in the earthquake that struck eastern Afghanistan, a Taliban government spokesman said. The 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck several towns in Kunar province, near the city of Jalalabad in neighbouring Nangarhar province late Sunday night. "Deeply saddened by the loss of lives and property in the earthquake in Afghanistan. Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families in this difficult hour, and we pray for the speedy recovery of the injured. India stands ready to provide all possible humanitarian assistance and relief to those affected," Modi wrote on Twitter.
