
News Topical, Digital Desk : Netherlands Prime Minister Dick Schoof on Tuesday held talks with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on boosting bilateral ties in areas of trade, technology and security and supported India's fight against cross-border terrorism.
After the meeting with Jaishankar, Dick Schoof said that he is looking forward to welcoming Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Netherlands soon. Modi was scheduled to visit Croatia, Norway and the Netherlands from May 13 to 17, but the visit was cancelled due to increased tension between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack.
Jaishankar thanked PM Skoof
During the talks, Jaishankar thanked Prime Minister Dick Schoof for the Netherlands' firm stand against terrorism. Speaking about his meeting with the Foreign Minister, Schoof said that he expressed his support for India's fight against the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. He said in a post on the internet media that it is a good thing for all parties that the violence between India and Pakistan has not escalated further.
The Netherlands Prime Minister said that it is important for both the Netherlands and India to trust each other in a changing world. He said, 'We also talked about our strategic partnership. It relates to long-term cooperation between the Netherlands and India in areas including trade, new technology, agriculture and security.'
Jaishankar on three-nation visit
Jaishankar arrived here on Monday on the first leg of his three-nation visit. He will also visit Denmark and Germany. At the same time, the Ministry of External Affairs said that both sides expressed satisfaction over the growing strategic convergence in India-Netherlands relations and agreed to further strengthen bilateral relations.
