News Topical, Digital Desk : The nation's capital, Delhi, is once again grappling with dangerous levels of pollution. The sky is shrouded in haze, and the Air Quality Index (AQI) remains consistently in the "severe" category. Bringing hope for relief is a research team from IIT Kanpur, which has developed a formula for artificial rain. Preparations are underway to use this technology to free Delhi's air of pollution within the next three days.
The team engaged in carrying out the mission
This team of scientists from IIT Kanpur is carrying out this mission in collaboration with the Delhi government and the Union Ministry of Horticulture. The team explained that a special chemical spray cloud technique will be used to clean Delhi's polluted air. Under this technique, a special aircraft has been filled with a chemical mixture of silver iodide and sodium. This aircraft will spray these chemicals into the clouds, increasing humidity and causing artificial rain.
Dr. Manidra Agarwal, Director of IIT Kanpur, explained that attempts to create artificial rain had been made before, but were not feasible due to a lack of necessary permits. This time, with the green light from both the Delhi government and the Ministry of Environment, the experiment is more likely to succeed.
He explained that this technology can produce rain within a radius of approximately 100 kilometers, which will significantly reduce air pollution. The IIT team has completed all technical preparations and has also conducted practice rehearsals. Now, they are only waiting for favorable weather, meaning clouds to form. As soon as clouds form in the Delhi sky, artificial rain will be immediately generated by spraying chemicals.
