News Topical, Digital Desk : In Virar area of Palghar district of Maharashtra, some people beat up an auto driver who spoke Hindi. The only reason behind this incident was that the auto driver had said in a video on social media - "I will speak Hindi". After the man's video went viral, workers of Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction) and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) together beat him up.
Video went viral on social media
Actually, a few days ago a video went viral on social media, in which a person named Bhavesh Padoliya and an auto rickshaw driver had an argument. When Bhavesh asked the auto driver why he was not speaking in Marathi, the driver said, “I will speak Hindi, Bhojpuri, not Marathi.”
After this video went viral, on Saturday some Shiv Sena (UBT) and MNS workers identified the driver at Virar station, surrounded him and slapped him in front of everyone. Women were also involved in this incident.
statement of shiv sena leader
Shiv Sena (UBT) Virar city chief Uday Jadhav was also present at the spot when the incident took place. He told the media, "If someone insults Maharashtra, Marathi language or Marathi Manus, then Shiv Sena people know how to respond to him."
He said that this driver has insulted Marathi identity, so we taught him that such things will not be tolerated in Maharashtra. He had to apologize.
The police have not yet filed an FIR in this case. Palghar police says that we have received the video and we are investigating the facts, but so far no party has lodged a complaint.
The crowd beat up
However, in the video viral on social media, it can be clearly seen how a person was beaten and humiliated by the mob.
This is not the first time that language violence has taken place in Maharashtra. On July 1, MNS workers in Thane slapped a street food vendor because he was not speaking in Marathi. Traders had protested after that incident.
