News Topical, Digital Desk : Since assuming the top position in the United States on January 20, 2025, Donald Trump has adopted a tough stance toward other countries. Trump's tariff policy is part of this. Trump's tariffs are facing criticism worldwide, but Trump has no regrets about his decision.

Donald Trump says he enjoys tariffs and that they are making America richer. According to Trump, most countries have been taking advantage of the United States for decades. However, his tariffs have created a trade imbalance.

What did Trump say?

Addressing the crowd at the Marine Corps base in Quantico, the US President said, "I love tariffs. It's the most beautiful word. I know I shouldn't say it. Tariffs are my favorite word and I love them. We're getting very rich off of it. There's a case going on in the Supreme Court right now. Other countries have taken advantage of this over the past several decades."

How much does the US benefit from the tariff?

Trump has claimed that the US has earned trillions of dollars from tariffs. This money could buy numerous warships. According to Trump,

We've taken money for granted. We've become very rich. If tariffs end, we'll have no money left. Other countries have been taking advantage of us for decades. Now we're treating them the same way. The amount of money coming into America is like never before. Every other day, we're receiving $31 billion (about Rs 2.59 lakh crore), which could buy us a lot of warships.

50 percent tariff on India

It should be noted that Trump's tariff policy came into effect on April 2. Under this policy, a 25 percent tariff was initially imposed on India, but this was later increased by another 25 percent. Currently, the US has imposed a 50 percent tariff on India.
