News Topical, Digital Desk : Sector 24 (Ward 14), considered the most VIP area of Panipat city, has turned into a scene straight out of a horror movie these days. It's not stray dogs, but stray horses that have become so violent that people are afraid to even step outside their homes. In the past seven days, these unruly horses have fatally attacked and mauled more than 10 people.
Eyewitnesses and victims reported that these horses were no longer normal, but were behaving like man-eaters. The severity of the attack can be gauged from the fact that Giridhar, who was injured in the attack, was in such critical condition that he had to be immediately admitted to a hospital in Delhi. Several others, including Prashant Sharma and Kapil, are bedridden with serious injuries.
The horses not only bit people, but also grabbed body parts in their jaws and chewed them to the bones. One man was severely mauled by a horse, requiring a complex operation.
The attack occurred while he was on a morning walk.
A victim of a horse attack said that he was going for a walk at 7 a.m. on February 2nd when two horses passed by, one of which became aggressive and attacked him, breaking bones in his arms and injuring him elsewhere. He said that similar incidents have occurred a couple of times before. He appealed to the administration to take action.
Sector residents erupted in anger
Under the leadership of Sector 24 head Kamal, local residents have launched a protest against the Municipal Corporation and the police administration. Prominent figures like Rameshwar Sharma Fauji, Ishwar Goyal, Shivcharan Jindal, and Mahendra Fuliya say that despite repeated complaints, the Municipal Corporation has fallen on deaf ears.
Angry people have warned that if these horses are not caught and taken out of the city within the next 24 hours and an FIR is not registered against their owners, they will surround the Municipal Corporation office.
