News Topical, Digital Desk : Uttar Pradesh Finance Minister Suresh Khanna presented a budget of ₹9.13 lakh crore for the fiscal year 2026-27 in the state assembly on Wednesday (February 11), an increase of approximately 12.2 percent compared to the previous fiscal year. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has reacted to the Yogi government's budget
BSP chief Mayawati posted on Instagram and wrote, "The budget for 2026-27 presented in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly today appears to be more populist and less focused on the actual upliftment of the people and development of all sections of society and all sectors of the state. Nevertheless, the announcements and assurances made to the public must be implemented in a timely manner so that they do not remain merely on paper."
Former Chief Minister Mayawati said, "It would have been appropriate to make the tradition of the budget speech truly solid and credible by providing accurate data on the ground implementation of last year's budget. However, the current budget appears to be more of a headline-grabber, which once again seems to have dashed people's hopes of 'good days.' In any case, the people of Uttar Pradesh are still waiting for a permanent income employment system, for which seriousness and activism are essential."
BSP supremo Mayawati stated that in this regard, the government must also pay proper attention to SC, ST, and OBC reservations. The sooner the recruitment backlog is filled, the better. However, if the BJP government, like the four BSP governments, strives to fulfill its constitutional obligation of "Sarvajana Hitaya and Sarvajana Sukhaya" with devotion and honesty, it will be in the best interest of the country and the people. The budget should also be in this direction, meaning it should be beneficial to specific classes and regions, especially millions of poor and farmers, and not anti-farmer, but rather a means of improving their lives.
