News Topical, Digital Desk : A hearing was held on Wednesday in a defamation case filed against Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Rae Bareli MP Rahul Gandhi for making objectionable remarks against Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
His lawyer, Santosh Pandey, presented arguments on the petition filed by complainant BJP leader Vijay Mishra to have Rahul Gandhi's voice sample matched with the forensic science laboratory. Rahul Gandhi's lawyer, Kashi Prasad Shukla, opposed this. Magistrate Shubham Verma of the special MP-MLA court, after the hearing, set May 2 for the order.
Rahul Gandhi is accused of making objectionable remarks against the then BJP national president and current Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Bengaluru in 2018, calling him a murderer.
On August 4, 2018, former District Cooperative Bank Chairman and BJP leader Vijay Mishra filed a defamation complaint against Rahul Gandhi. The court summoned Rahul Gandhi for trial on November 27, 2023. On February 20, 2024, Rahul Gandhi appeared in court and secured bail, and on February 20, 2026, his statement was recorded in court.
