News Topical, Digital Desk : The crime unit of sector 43 of Gurugram police, the cyber city adjacent to Delhi, has succeeded in arresting a clever thief after an encounter, who used to come to India from Nepal by bus to commit the crime and after committing the crime, used to return to Nepal by taxi.

To carry out the crime, the accused had created his Facebook profile. On which he befriended young men and women of Nepali origin who were working as domestic servants. He used to deceive them and then carry out the crime and then run away. 

A major incident was about to happen

Gurugram Police spokesperson Sandeep Kumar said that the crime unit received information that a Nepali youth, who has committed several heinous crimes, is roaming around on the road behind Tau Devi Lal Park from Wazirabad with the intention of committing a major crime.

On this information, the police team reached the back road of Tau Devi Lal Park from the mentioned place Wazirabad to arrest the accused. During that time, the police team saw the young man near Tau Devi Lal Park Sector-53. The police team asked him to stop, but the young man fired directly at the police team and started running away.

Seeing the accused running away, the police retaliated and fired a shot towards the accused's feet. The bullet hit the accused's right leg and he fell down injured. The police team caught him. The accused has been identified as Jagat Bahadur (age-35 years). He has been admitted to a government hospital in Gurugram in an injured state. 

Pistol and live cartridges recovered from the accused

The police team recovered a pistol, a live cartridge, a bag containing an iron cutter, a plier, a screwdriver and 6 empty cartridges from the crime scene. During police interrogation, it was found that Jagat Bahadur is a resident of Nepal. He changes his name and befriends people from Nepal through Facebook who are working in someone's house in India. 

After befriending him, he used to come to India by making an ID with a fake name. Along with the friend made on Facebook, he used to make the landlord and his family unconscious by mixing intoxicants in their drinks. After that, he used to steal from the house and go back to Nepal. 

20 lakhs stolen in Mumbai

He used to come to India from Nepal by bus and after committing theft, he used to take the stolen goods back to Nepal in a taxi. Next time he used to come to India again with a new fake name and fake ID in the same name and after committing the crime, he used to go back to Nepal. Last year, the accused along with his other associates had also committed a theft of about 20 lakh rupees in Mumbai. 

Accused Jagat Bahadur was arrested by Kailali Nepal Police along with his female partner Babita and sent to jail on charges of selling stolen goods from India. The accused came out of Nepal jail on 9 August 2025. 

As soon as he got out of jail, he started stealing

After coming out of jail, one day later on 11th August 2025, he left to commit the next crime in India and was currently in Gurugram planning to commit a theft, but before he could commit the crime, the police caught him.
