News Topical, Digital Desk : The film Happy Patel was released in theaters last month on January 16th. Vir Das served as director and lead actor in this movie, and it was produced under superstar Aamir Khan's production house.

While Happy Patel, a commercial box office flop, is facing intense speculation about an OTT release, it won't be released on any popular streaming platform. This is due to Aamir Khan's policy, which also applied to his previous film, Sitaaron Zameen Par. Let's understand the entire matter in detail.

Happy Patel will not be released on OTT.

Last year, Aamir Khan made a comeback with Sitare Zameen Par. The film was a success and earned him widespread acclaim. At the time, Aamir Khan clarified that his film would not be released on any OTT platform, but would instead be uploaded to YouTube via the Aamir Khan Films channel in rental format using a pay-per-view model . He believed that films are made for the big screen, and as a theater lover, his upcoming films would not be released on OTT platforms.

Aamir Khan's Happy Patel was recently  released on the big screen as a producer. Following the example of Sitare Zameen Par, it's believed that Vir Das's  Happy Patel will be released online on YouTube. Using the pay-per-view model, you can easily watch this movie on YouTube for just 100 rupees.

However,  the official YouTube release of Happy Patel has yet to be announced. Vir Das'  Happy Patel marks Aamir Khan's return to cinema after nearly 10 years.

Happy Patel's commercial performance

Fans had high expectations for the film Happy Patel. However, the movie failed to deliver in terms of earnings. According to a Bollywood Hungama report, the film grossed only ₹5.44 crore (US$1.2 million) in the first 15 days of its release, which indicates that  Happy Patel's commercial performance was extremely poor.
