Delhi Temperature: The heat has picked up pace in the month of April in the capital Delhi. The temperature has crossed 41 degrees Celsius and the Meteorological Department has already warned that this time the heat can be more intense and dangerous than last time. In view of this situation, the Delhi government has now become active regarding the Heat Action Plan.

In such a situation, a high-level meeting has been called at the Delhi Secretariat on Monday (21 April) at 12 noon. This meeting will be chaired by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and cabinet ministers of the Delhi government will be present. Apart from the Chief Minister and ministers, senior officials of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), officials of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), heads of the Delhi government's Home, Health, Education, Labor and Social Welfare departments will also attend the meeting.

What decisions can be taken in Rekha Gupta government meeting?

According to sources, the health department may be instructed in the meeting to create special wards for the treatment of heat-related diseases in all major hospitals of the capital. Also, it may be asked to ensure adequate arrangements for ICU beds, essential medicines and cold drinking water.
Along with this, the education department may consider installing drinking water coolers and water bottle stations in schools.

There may be a change in the operating hours of schools

If needed, a decision can be taken to change the school timings or to keep the schools closed temporarily. Not only this, the labour department of the Delhi government can also issue special instructions for workers working at construction sites and on the roadside. This will focus on providing facilities like rest breaks, shaded resting places, and drinking water.

The Delhi government believes that by taking concrete steps in time, the risks caused by heat can be reduced to a great extent. A big decision regarding the heat action plan is possible in the meeting on Monday.
