News Topical, Digital Desk : With the final publication of the district voter list on Friday, the process of Special Intensive Revision (SIR), which had been ongoing for more than five months, has been completed. The total number of voters in the Assembly voter list now stands at 3.245 million, up from 3.66 million before the SIR process began.
During this period, the names of 6.63 lakh voters have been removed from the voter list, while the names of 2.24 lakh new voters have also been added. Among those whose names have been deleted, many have relocated and some have died. People who were voters in more than one place have also retained their names in one place.
Those whose names were mistakenly deleted during the SIR campaign or who were left out from becoming voters, will now be able to become voters by filling Form 6 under the normal process. The application process has started from Friday itself.
With the final publication of the voter list, the voter lists for all nine assembly constituencies in the district have been handed over to all recognized political parties. This list will be available at the offices of the Electoral Registration Officer and at all polling stations. The voter list can also be viewed on the district's official website, gorakhpur.nic.in.
As part of the first phase of the campaign, the provisional voter list was published on January 6th. According to this list, 17.61 percent of voters in the ASD (Absent, Shifted, and Death) category, or 645,625, were deleted. Consequently, the number of voters on the list decreased from 3.666 million, 533 to 3.020 million, 908.
Similarly, 2.83 lakh voters whose mapping could not be done with the 2003 voter list were identified. In the second phase, these voters were heard and the remaining voters were given the opportunity to become voters. In the second phase, 18,131 voters were also deleted. Thus, during the entire SIR campaign, 6.63 lakh voters were deleted.

During a DM press conference, District Election Officer Deepak Meena stated that the final voter list has been published under the SIR. Online copies are available on the Chief Electoral Officer's and district's websites. If anyone still wants to add, modify, or delete their name, they can fill out the relevant forms.
Forms 6, 7 and 8 will be available online. It can also be filled by meeting the BLO. The District Election Officer expressed hope that after the purification of the voter list, now there is full hope that the voting percentage will be quite good. While praising the work of all the officers and employees deployed in the campaign, he also expressed gratitude towards them.
Maximum voters in the city, minimum in Chauri Chaura.
In the final voter list, maximum voters are in Gorakhpur city, while minimum voters are in Chauri Chaura assembly constituency. Reserved assembly constituency Bansgaon is at second from the bottom, while reserved assembly constituency Khajani is at third place.
During the SIR campaign, 368 new booths were also created. As per the Election Commission's instructions, any booths in the district with more than 1,200 voters were consolidated and new booths were created. The district previously had 3,679 booths, which has now increased to 4,047.
