Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority has taken an innovative initiative of testing and then taking corrective measures to improve the riding quality and comfort of the expressway. For this, technology and equipment based on vibration and artificial intelligence from ETH University Zurich Switzerland and RTDT Laboratory AG, an independent company (spin-off company) of the same university, were used.

Seven sensors were tested

Under this, vibration technology and accelerometer based 7 sensors (4 for riding quality and 3 for riding motion), S motion sensor, necessary equipment for measurement and data collection were installed in the Innova vehicle.

UPDA has set a target to carry out complete investigation and corrective measures to ensure the riding quality and riding comfort of each lane of all the expressways of the state with this technology. After the construction of Gorakhpur Link Expressway, the four lane investigation has been completed and on the basis of the evaluated data and results, the riding quality and riding comfort have been improved appropriately and this has been made world class.
