News Topical, Digital Desk : Indian Railways' Vande Bharat sleeper train has reached a speed of 180 kilometers per hour on the Kota-Nagda section. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav himself shared a video of the train on social media. Everyone is amazed by the train's stability at such speeds.

In the video, glasses filled with water are stacked one on top of another inside the train. The train is traveling at 180 km/h, with the mobile screen showing the speed as high as 182, yet not a single drop of water falls from the glasses. This 'water test' is living proof of the train's excellent technology and stability. The trial was conducted under the supervision of the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS). The Railway Minister wrote in his post, "The Vande Bharat Sleeper was tested today by the Commissioner of Railway Safety. It ran at a speed of 180 kmph on the Kota-Nagda section. And our own water test demonstrates the technical strengths of this new generation train."

This test is significant because the Vande Bharat Sleeper is being designed for long-distance overnight travel. Currently operating Vande Bharat trains are semi-high-speed, with a design speed of 180 km/h, but operating speeds are limited to a maximum of 160 km/h. Track conditions, stoppages, and maintenance often result in lower average speeds.

Will there be a big change in night travel?

The Vande Bharat Sleeper train is set to launch soon. It will completely transform long-distance travel for AC class passengers. According to the Railway Ministry, this train will be the perfect blend of speed, comfort, and modern amenities.

It will first begin on busy routes and then gradually expand to all routes. Travel time will be significantly reduced, and overnight journeys will become more convenient. This train will not only run faster but also provide passengers with better sleep and comfort. Built with state-of-the-art technology, this train is part of Indian Railways' ambitious plan to lead the country towards a high-speed rail network.

Travel from Chennai to coastal Andhra Pradesh has also seen significant improvements recently. On December 15th, the Vande Bharat Express was extended to Narsapur, enhancing both connectivity and comfort. But now, with the arrival of the sleeper version, the wait for long journeys is about to end.
